COMMACT Membership

Organisations and individuals make up the membership of COMMACT International (CI). They are in three categories:

A. Organisational Membership: Open to civil society organisations supporting COMMACT’s vision and purposes and meeting COMMACT International’s membership criteria. These criteria are a) the organisation subscribes fully to COMMACT’s Vision and values; b) it provides evidence of having development policies and practices which are people-centred; and c) that it demonstrates willingness to contribute its experience, knowledge and time to COMMACT.

B. Associate Organisational Membership: Open to other organisations and institutions in the public and private sectors, including academia and the media, supporting COMMACT’s vision and purposes.

C. Associate Individual Membership: Open to individuals in all sectors, including academia and the media, supporting COMMACT’s vision and purposes.

As well as meeting the criteria for members, membership fees must be paid. The fee rates are set out below. Members play their part in the governance of CI through its General Assembly, both by speaking and making any proposal they wish, and through participating in determining the membership of the ICC.

As well as meeting general criteria (support/endorse COMMACT Vision/Purposes) and payment of fees, the following must be submitted by all existing members as well as new members:

Category A: Complete Application form + provide Latest Annual report + recommendation/ endorsement of at least one existing Category A member

Category B: Complete Application Form + recommendation/ endorsement of at least two existing Category A members

Category C: As Category B above.

Period of Membership

"General Assembly to General Assembly" (GAs normally take place every 2/3 years); or

“Lifetime” – ie a once-off single payment

Membership Rates

CI Membership fee rates are as follows:

Category A Orgs GA to GA min US$10/ Lifetime min US$100

Category B Orgs GA to GA min US$50/ Lifetime min US$500

Category C Individuals GA to GA min US$50/ Liftime min US$500

Notes:

  • The 7WCW event/GA (which will be held in late 2007 or early 2008) will be the point at which any fees paid now take effect, even if fees are paid before then.
  • Any member in any category may at their discretion pay more than the minimum rates

Chapter Membership

In addition Chapters may determine any Chapter membership fees entirely at their discretion.

Additional payments (Chapters and CI)

  • Conference fees are payable for WCW and national/other events
  • Voluntary additional payments can be made at any time by any member.
